A detailed intake will guide us in this session as neck and shoulder pain can come from computer posture, teeth grinding, sleeping position and so much more. We will focus on increasing the range of motion in joints after assessing posture before we get started. Possible modalities used could be Abhyanga, muscle energy techniques, myofascial release, and trigger point therapy.

Comfort is key in every prenatal massage. Surrounded by pillows and support, this massage would be received in the side-lying position. With the focus on aiding circulation of increased blood volume, I use lighter strokes that are directed toward the heart. We will spend elongated time on whatever area is currently causing distress.

In addressing this complaint, I would work gently as to not anger or fatigue already over-worked muscles. The focus here would be on breaking up scar tissue. Possible techniques I may use would be heat, acupressure, deep tissue, and muscle-resistance tests.
